Antara

Antara is a sacred place for Anangu.  It holds many tjukurpa (songlines) stories that cross this land.  One of these stories is Maku Tjukurpa.  Kuntjara Kutjara ananyi tjukula, a long time ago two women went to apu katu (top of the rock), the hill that surrounds Antara.  they were singing inma (songs) and hitting the rock with punu (stick).  After they had finished singing, Maku tjuta came from  the Maku tree (Ilykuwara) Witchetty bush.  This painting depicts this place, the rocks, rockhole and surrounding landscape.
