Mulayang

In this painting Roy has illustrated the story at Mulayang of Wati Kutjara (Two men) and touches on a kalaya Tjukurpa or Emu story.  The Wati Kutjara (Two man) story involves  a father and son who are travelling on initiation business far across and then beyond the Spinifex lands.  The son sneaks away and heads to Mulaya where he becomes embroiled in a fight with a powerful old man who lives there.  Worried by signs the father tracks his son and tries to difuse the situation before a serious conflict can erupt.

In this painting Roy has represented the enus in the centre between the snakes.  The emus have come to drink at Mulaya and cross paths with the snakes.
