The painting tells the story of all the rockholes where Marys family have found water in the central desert for centuries. Designs like this were drawn in the sand and painted in ceremonies to preserve and pass down the peop;les extensive knowledge of their country. purrungu rockhole in the top right hand corner is the sandhill country, then Watanka. Yartuku where there are two rockholes close together. Karku is the larger rockhole in the centre, in spinifex country on the otherside of Kulkurda. The white area is the lake country. The black and brown shapes are the hills in the region.
Mary says this painting tells the story of one woman who travelled from the place meeting other women on the way and travelling all the way to Kintore. It is womens Tjukurpa (dreaming).
